i'd never trade it in 'cause i've
always wanted this and it's not a dream
she had never really been good at expressing her feelings to others. she was shy. she had always been shy, since her youngest age. nothing had happened to her for her to be like that. she simply was. of course, it had always been a huge obstacle to make friends or to even talk with people. when she was still in the united states, when she still went to this small school in this small village, she was certain nobody even had an idea of who she was or what her name was. they probably only knew that she was a dulce since her parents and her sister socialized very easily with people surrounding them. they all had certainly already seen her around town, but nobody had ever seemed to wonder what her name was. and, to be honest, she hadn’t seemed to mind all that much, really. when she had arrived at hogwarts, three years after her ‘wonderful’ sister, it had been the exact same thing. nobody knew her name. nobody seemed to notice her. and she still didn’t mind all that much. oh, how she remembered her first day at hogwarts so perfectly. she had walked to the small, unstable bench very carefully so she wouldn’t trip over air and make everybody burst into laughters. her legs had been shaking as if the ground itself had been shaking. when she finally reached the bench, she dropped on it, at first not caring if it broke under her. she just wanted to make her legs stop shaking once and for all. it was only when her butt touched it that she was suddenly scared that it would break underneath her fragile body. but it didn’t and she sighed deeply. though, when darkness surrounded her again, panic took over her body and she started breathing faster. what had just happened? was she dead? the poor girl was imagining the worst scenarios of all. and when she realised that it was only a hat that had been dropped on top of her head, she sighed deeply once again. but she didn’t quite understand why the hat had been put over her head. the only word she heard was “HUFFLEPUFF!” and the hat was taken off of her blond head. she blinked at the sudden light and heard loud cheers coming from everywhere. she saw three tables of happy people and one table of people only politely clapping. she stared at them, those who were dressed in green and silver, colours that she knew belonged to the slytherin house. and she realised that they probably didn’t have a problem with her in particular, but probably only with every student that was put in any other house. she frowned lightly and a guy shot a cold, dark and hostile glare at her before she was slowly but firmly pushed off of the bench and directed towards the table of her new house, towards her hopefully soon-to-be new friends. note the hopefully in that sentence.
mollie blinked a few times and shook her head lightly to get rid of the scene that had been happening in front of her eyes. she had never really liked thinking about that day, about the look that older guy had gave her. she couldn’t help but think that was when she had made her very first mistake with the slytherins. he had somehow started to manifest a sudden interest in her after that, and interest that she wasn’t exactly sure where it came from. she had been abused, both mentally and physically, and manipulated by him and his little guy. oh, only god knew in how much trouble this had gotten her into. the young woman coughed, trying to break her train of thoughts as she leaned forward over her plate to grab the pumpkin juice. she slowly poured some in her crystal glass, staring at it as she did so to make sure she wouldn’t pour it everywhere but in her glass. she put the pumpkin down to it’s original place and sipped pumpkin juice she had just poured in her glass rather quickly. before she knew it, her glass was empty, sign that she had been very thirsty. she bit her bottom lip lightly as she looked up and observed the students eating in the great hall, avoiding to look at the slytherins’ table, though. it was her first year back at hogwarts since she had graduated – still without being known by anybody except from teachers. even though it hadn’t been what she wanted, for the past three years, she had been working for the daily prophet, the wizarding world’s very own newspaper, just like her mother, father and sister had before her. her mother had decided to quit the job after she had had her heart attack and even though he was starting to get old, her father still worked there, telling anybody who asked him that his work at the daily prophet was his life. as if he didn’t have a wife to care about. but her sister wasn’t really any better. she had decided to follow them, obviously thinking that this was the greatest the job you could possibly get. and she hadn’t even stopped for a day or two when their mother had had the attack. mollie had been the only one who seemed to really care. it had been her mother who had strongly encouraged her to go work for the daily prophet alongside her father and sister. even though it hadn’t been what she had wanted to do at first, she did as she was told, only to please her mother. in fact, she hadn’t been sure of what she really wanted. could it hurt to try? she had spent the last three years doing that job. but after that, she had decided that she had had enough of it all and quitted. She had never been the curious type of girl. she hadn’t to search through other’s things. if she didn’t need to know something about somebody, if it wasn’t necessary for her to keep on living, she owuldn’t try to know what that particular thing was. so, it had been hard for he to get interested in the subjects she was given at the daily prophet. when she had quitted, she had decided to apply to be a teacher, here at hogwats, where she felt she would be much more useful. and she thought that, so far, she was doing rather good. students seemed to respect her and they made her feel comfortable.
mollie looked around at the teachers surrounding the table that was way less long than the tables around which the students were sitting. after all, there were only about twenty teachers against at least seven hundred students, if not more. she didn’t know exactly how many students there were. and she didn’t quite care, to be honest. anyway. every single one of the teachers seemed pretty comfortable too. they were all smiling and talking with the people surrounding them, just like the students were talking with their friends and laughing. she was the only who seemed oh so lost in her thoughts, the only who wasn’t smiling, laughing or talking with the people surrounding her. well, after all, the man on her left seemed way too busy eating and the woman on her right was talking actively with her own neighbor. what more did it take to make somebody feel rejected? at the same time, it probably was a little bit of her own very fault. they probably thought the she was the reserved type, which was true. but if they thought that she was someone who didn’t like to socialize with others and even someone who thought she was better than others, than they were completely wrong. well, there had been some people in her life se wouldn’t like to socialize with. but generally, she liked to socialize with people, one at a time. unless she was feeling crappy and didn’t know what to say. then would come the awkward silences, the thing she probably hated the most in this world. that probably was what kept mollie most of the time from socializing with others. her shyness had always been stronger than her, somehow. but that rule didn’t seem to apply to one particular person. a man, in fact. alexander horatio valor, the ground’s keeper here, at hogwarts, school of witchcraft and wizardry. she somehow could manage to talk to him almost freely. and that was something she appreciated, liked even. though, when he used that.. charm of his on her, it got worst than it had ever been. she couldn’t even look at him. like when they had kissed for the first time, in her office. and then, for the second time when he had come to find her in the stairs. she didn’t exactly understand the feelings she had for him, though, when he had told her that he liked her, she couldn’t help but do the same. and more she thought about it, more she thought it was true, she liked him. mollie shook her head once again. people had started to leave the great hall, which probably meant she could head back to her office. she stood quickly and pushed her chair underneath the table before almost running out of the large room. and once out, she found a corner where she could stand alone for a second, just to think. she then slowly started towards her office, climbing up the stairs and passing in front of the exact spot where they.. she stopped herself from thinking about it.. well, for now. she didn’t want to get lost in her thoughts and just stupidly stand here while students passed by and stared at her.
